Seems Cupertino’s been looking at Second Life for a little inspiration here, and has won a patent that suggests the company could in future create its very own 3D universe online.

Filed in April 2008, Apple’s patent first suggested a Second Life-located Apple store. Today, One of Apple’s Virtual Store Patents have been granted, paving the way for Apple to venture into this new and exciting 3D Internet under construction at this very moment, as reported by Patently Apple.

Η απάντηση για το update της Apple απο την iPhone dev team!

On Tuesday, Apple released firmware 3.1.3 for the iPhone and iPod touches.  Unless you’ve personally observed a problem with the reporting of your battery percentage, there’s no reason to update to 3.1.3.  We know some of you will want to anyway.  Superbowl Sunday’s PwnageTool 3.1.5 for Mac OS X will let you do so safely, preserving your jailbreak and ultrasn0w unlock.  (If you use the blacksn0w unlock (at baseband 05.11.07), you need to stay at 3.1.2.)

iPhone 3G and 3GS unlockers should always be very wary to update their firmware.  This is no exception.  If you make a mistake along the way you may find yourself updating to official 3.1.3 in which case you will lose your unlock, possibly forever.

iPhone 3GS users (regardless of unlock) should stay away from this and all 3.1.3 jailbreak tools unless you know you have your “SHSH hashes” backed up via Cydia.  That’s because if you make a mistake you may find yourself stuck at official 3.1.3 with no way to jailbreak or come back down to 3.1.2 to jailbreak.

If you really truly feel that you need to update, this version creates a custom 3.1.3 IPSW for you to restore to on your iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS with early bootrom, iPod touch 1G, and iPod touch 2G with early bootrom.  If you don’t know if you have an early bootrom or not, please avoid updating until you learn more.

You don’t need to be pre-jailbroken on anything but the iPod touch 2G early bootrom.  And really for that device, it’s faster and easier to use redsn0w 0.9.4 as mentioned in our last post.  For that matter, if you have an ipt1g, iphone2g, or iphone3g(and don’t need an unlock), you should use redsn0w too (but version 0.9.3).  It’s faster and you won’t have to go through a full restore process (just do an update then run redsn0w, pointing it at 3.1.2 FW instead of 3.1.3).

If you have an iPhone 3GS, PwnageTool works if you’re currently at version 3.1.2 or below (down to 3.0).  You don’t need to be already jailbroken — PwnageTool will ask you if you’re jailbroken after you’ve created the IPSW.  Don’t use PwnageTool on the iPhone 3GS if you’re at 3.1.3, it just won’t work.  Downgrade to 3.1.2 using the methods described here.  If you can’t downgrade because you don’t have your 3GS 3.1.2 hashes on file with Cydia, you’ll need to sit out the 3.1.3 jailbreak.

We aren’t revealing any new exploits to Apple with this jailbreak. Everything here has been used before, it’s just a straightforward port of Pwnage2 and 24Kpwn to the new firmware.  It’s possible the new firmware was released largely to flush out new exploits before the next big release.  We won’t be biting.

We’ll be updating this post with the bittorrent files (and any unofficial mirrors) for the new PwnageTool later today (SHA1 hash 16611fb60d088edd2fa5128e4f95f35d8e56a603).  We’d really like the above warnings and disclaimers to sink in first, though.  Please feel free to ask any questions in the comment section below.  We’ve got a bunch of expert help there, including our friendly moderators confucious and angie!

While the assisted GPS in the iPhone currently allows users to view their own location through the integrated Maps application, the described addition would make it simple and easy to share that data with someone else. The location data could be quickly shared with a person who is currently connected with a phone call, or with someone who was recently sent a text message.

Κατά την παρουσίαση του iPad η Αpple άφησε δυσαρεστημένο μεγάλο μερίδιο υποψήφιων αγοραστών με την απουσία κάμερας από τη συσκευή.

Όπως είχε γίνει και πριν λίγους μήνες με την παρουσίαση του iPod touch 3G όπου ηApple φημολογείται ότι απέσυρε τελευταία στιγμή την κάμερα από το μοντέλο έτσι και τώρα διαδραματίζεται το ίδιο σενάριο.

Αρχικά, το BenMat δημοσίευσε κάποιες εικόνες από oρισμένες φωτογραφίες που είχαν διαρρεύσει που απ’ότι φαίνεται το 3G μοντέλο θα διαθέτει κάμερα (βλ. iPad: Is the 3G version going to have a camera module?)

Μερικές αλλαγές (και πάλι) στο site μας! Προσπαθούμε να κάνουμε το site όσο πιο user friendly γίνετε… βέβαια είναι δύσκολο όταν δεν μπορούμε να ασχοληθούμε και πολύ με αυτό, αλλά κάτι κάναμε!

Εδώ και δύο μέρες άρχισε να κυκλοφορεί στο Cupertino μία σειρά από περίεργες φήμες σχετικά με την Apple και το iPad. Λέγεται ότι η συσκευή έχει ολοκληρωθεί μέσα σε μόλις 5 μήνες, για μια απλή στρατηγική μάρκετινγκ. Το νέο chip είναι ακόμη υπό δοκιμή από την Apple, και όλα τα αποτελέσματα από τις δοκιμές και τις εμπειρίες των χρηστών θα χρησιμοποιηθούν στη συνέχεια για ένα καλύτερο iPhone 4G.

Σήμερα, ωστόσο, στο Radio Cupertino, ο Steve Jobs ο ίδιος αμφισβήτησε αυτές τις φήμες, δηλώνοντας:

Όποιος άδικα μας κατηγορεί ότι δεν προσέχουμε στις ανάγκες των καταναλωτών που ψέματα, εμείς απαντούμε με το iPad.

Πολλοί δεν έχουν καταλάβει ακόμη τι είναι το iPad και όταν τελικά θα είναι έτοιμο προς πώληση, όλοι οι επικριτές θα αλλάξουν σίγουρα γνώμη. Ένα λάθος που δεν κάναμε, αν μπορώ να το ονομάσω λάθος, ήταν να ανακοινώσουμε ένα προϊόν το οποίο θα είναι άμεσα διαθέσιμο για αγορά, δεδομένου ότι έτσι γίνεται συνήθως. Και αυτό οδηγεί σε κερδοσκοπία.

Σε αυτό το σημείο ρωτήθηκε: Πώς και δεν υπήρξε μια ενημέρωση για το iPhone OS; Και ο Steve απάντησε ως εξής:

Μετά την παρουσίαση του iPad ο Steve Jobs έκανε μια συντάντηση με τους υπαλλήλους της Apple. Το Wired αναφέρει το τί ειπώθηκε στο meeting. Δύο από τα μεγαλύτερα θέματα η Google και η Adobe.

Όσον αφορά την Google: o Jobs μας επιβεβαίωσε τον ανταγωνισμό ανάμεσα σε αυτές τις δύο εταιρίες.

On Google: We did not enter the search business, Jobs said. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them, he says.

As for Adobe, Jobs said they are lazy and Jobs blames Adobe for a buggy implementation of Flash on the Mac as one of the reasons they won’t support it.

Those are the main points covered by Wired’s article. We had received a more detailed report of the Apple meeting, but hadn’t been able to corroborate it until now. Many of the details of the Wired report line up with our anonymous submission, so we believe it likely to be accurate. Some additional key points that we learned:

- Apple will deliver aggressive updates to iPhone that Android/Google won’t be able to keep up with
- iPad is up there with the iPhone and Mac as the most important products Jobs has been a part of
- Regarding the Lala acquisition, Apple was interested in bringing those people into the iTunes team
- Next iPhone coming is an A+ update
- New Macs for 2010 are going to take Apple to the next level
- Blu-Ray software is a mess, and Apple will wait until sales really start to take off before implementing it.

Σύμφωνα με φήμες ο καινούριος επεξεργαστής της Apple, o Apple A4 είναι υποψήφιος για το επόμενο iPhone.

After playing with the iPad, the one thing everyone agrees upon is that it’s really fast. It’s also extremely power-effiecient, sporting 10 hours of video playback and over a month of standby time. Now if you were paying attention during the keynote, you’ll know that the iPad’s speed and low power consumption comes from its use of Apple’s custom-designed A4 system-on-a-chip. It opens apps faster, flips orientations faster, and even allows for some cool, new graphical effects. So if Apple has a super chip that runs the iPhone OS at super speeds, where will we see it next?

According to analysts (who totally have engineering degrees), we might see an iPhone with a scaled-down A4 chip as early as July. It likely won’t be as fast in order to preserve battery life, but it should provide significant speed boosts as well as increased battery life. And because the A4 is believed to be based on a similar ARM-based architecture as the iPhone’s current CPU, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t happen.

Σε μια νέα πατέντα που κατέθεσε η Apple φαίνεται η προσθήκη βίντεο κάμερας στο iPhone και iPod touch.

Μιας και το iPhone έχει ήδη κάμερα υποθέτουμε ότι η πατέντα αυτή προορίζεται εν μέρει για το επόμενο iPod touch. Στην πατέντα φαίνεται ότι ο χρήστης μπορεί να κάνει tap to focus μέσω κάποιων gestures ενώ προσφέρεται και η δυνατότητα zoom.
